Kids To Sell Christmas Trees In Spokane
Local high school students will sell Christmas trees at five Spokane locations to raise funds for extracurricular activities. The program was cut last spring after School District 81 lost an 8.9 million maintenance levy and could be reinstated with 100000 of the 350000 needed. A football fundraiser earlier this fall covered about two thirds of the target. Students volunteer to support the drive with profits going to the activities fund.

Tire safety on ice as studied by National Safety Council
Sandpoint Police Chief George F. Elliot cites NSC tests showing radial and bias belted tires offer no clear advantage on ice over conventional tires. Chains provide the best traction, with studs and snow tires offering 3 to 7 times and about 50 percent improvements respectively. Drive cautiously to match road feel and speed.
