Youth Charged In Gun Attack In Sandpoint
Sean Keane a 19 year old Sandpoint resident pleaded guilty in Probate Court to assault with a deadly weapon after a shotgun attack on his mother Nina Keane. He was sentenced to 60 days in Bonner County jail by Judge Frances Sleep. Police responded after a family dispute with the gun discharge leaving the mother unharmed, escaping in a car.

Remote garage door traps girl to death in Sioux City
A four year old girl, Lynne Ann von Klein, died after a garage door remote control mechanism apparently came down as she attempted to flee the garage. Police said the door likely triggered from a control device in the family car and there were no witnesses to the incident.

Fire Destroys McNeer Home in Upper Pack River Area
A Tuesday afternoon blaze completely leveled the Allen McNeer residence on Upper Pack River road leaving six people without food clothing or shelter. Sheriff Wilcox said the remote location hindered fire protection response and the ceiling fire from unknown causes spread rapidly. McNeer, recovering from surgery, escaped on crutches with no time to dress, and only a TV and two chairs were saved. The family is staying with relatives and seeking clothing and food.

Funny Money Causes Mix Up At Morgan City Bank
In Morgan City Louisiana grocer Leo Steva found 150 twenty dollar bills looked different from his others. He traded them back for normal currency and the bank exchanged them after confirming the bills were rare 1928 gold certificates worth four times face value. The notes had reached circulation when an elderly woman paid a hospital bill.
