Guthrie Named Interim Sheriff For Bonner County

Guthrie to replace Dave Hare as interim sheriff Monday with Hare and Bill Rice remaining on payroll until January 10 as regular deputies. Guthrie defeated Hare in the August primary and will be sworn in for a full term in January. Some deputies plan to resign after the transition, others will continue duties without friction.

Forest Service Publishes Final FEIS for Lamb Upper West Branch Plan

The Forest Service releases the Final Environmental Impact Statement and land use plan for the 101 820 acre Lamb Upper West Branch Planning Unit in Bonner County Idaho and Pend Oreille County Washington. The plan allocates resources emphasizes wildlife habitat timber recreation and water protection with a 6160 acre primitive recreation area and portions in the Pend Oreille river study area. Copies of the FEIS were distributed to commenters and additional copies are available from the Sandpoint Zone Planning Office.

Savings Bonds Top $8 Million in Idaho Bicentennial Year

Idaho Savings Bond Committee reports 8,631,990 in Series E and H sales through the third quarter. Ben Brown, State Bond Director, says 771 percent of the 1976 goal has been reached and that the year end target of 11,200,000 should be met. He notes increased payroll saver participation and Christmas bank sales will lift final figures. The program is run mainly by county chairmen promoting personal finance and anti inflation.
