Accident Victim Listed Critical After Head-On Collision

A Sandpoint man Robert Saler 47 is in critical condition at Holy Family Hospital Spokane after a head-on collision on US 95 a mile south of Colburn Monday evening. His pickup crossed the center line colliding with Douglas Johnson 20 of Bonners Ferry. Saler was treated at Bonner General Sandpoint then moved to Spokane. Investigation ongoing. no citations issued yet.

Likens Named Superintendent of Schools in Bonner County

Dr E Wayne Likens, chairman of School District 82, announced his appointment as Superintendent to fill the vacancy from Jack Jones resignation. He will assume duties July 1 and aims to be in Bonner County by June 26. He has led Hanley Junior High in University City Missouri for three years and holds BA from Northwest Nazarene College, MA from Utah, and EdD from Idaho. He is married with four children. Salary is 18000 dollars annually.

Boy Struck By Car In Crosswalk In Sandpoint

A seven year old Sandpoint boy Dwight Tucker was injured Monday morning after being struck by a car driven by Mrs Wesley Olson while crossing an intersection with his mother The boy suffered a broken leg and was taken to Bonner General Hospital by an unidentified man who carried him after the impact.

Youth Injured When Car Falls On Sandpoint Youth

Larry Jeffries 18 son of Mr and Mrs Alvie Jeffries was pinned beneath a car that fell from a jack. He suffered a broken breastbone and was taken to Bonner General Hospital in Sandpoint where his condition was listed as satisfactory.

University of Idaho students present Sandpoint redesign plans

The University of Idaho architectural students from Moscow will unveil final survey plans for Sandpoint on May 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Junior High School auditorium. Two scale models of Sand Creek and the city beach will be displayed showing recommendations for a face-lift of downtown, the beach area, and the river.

Coffee Hour Honors Jones For Service

A coffee hour will honor Jack Jones on Thursday May 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Pastime Panhandle Room hosted by Helen Haugse and Faye Stevens. Jones has served as Superintendent of Schools for District 82 and will take a new position in Mountain Home Idaho. the public is invited.

Scout Exposition Labeled Success in North Idaho

The first international Scout Exposition in North Idaho drew a capacity crowd at the new fair grounds. Six blue ribbons eight red ribbons and 15 yellow ribbons were awarded with two yellows noting special mention. Judges included J Gordon Giles Ray Hast and Harold Stoll. Proceeds from ticket sales more than doubled from last year.
