Grandchildren May Receive Social Security Payments

Grandchildren may qualify for monthly social security payments based on a grandparent's work under a recent law change, says Hugo M. Wiebusch of the Coeur d Alene social security office. Eligibility commonly requires the grandchild to be under 18, dependent on the grandparent, and for the grandparent to be receiving benefits or to have died after sufficient work. Some cases allow grandchildren adopted by the grandparent to qualify. Contact the Coeur d Alene office at 310 Lakeside Avenue or call 664 8268 for details.
