US taxpayers fund 90 percent of South Vietnam aid study says
An unpublished study by the Indochina Resource Center claims US taxpayers covered about 90 percent of South Vietnam’s costs to sustain President Thieu from 1968 to 1972, with 1973 outlook unchanged. The report questions ongoing funding and warns of an endless US role, while noting limited success of some aid programs.
