Reise in Sandpoint court for damaged police car

Robert Reise 18 pled guilty to malicious destruction of property in a Dec 17 incident at City Hall. Judge Quentin Harden suspended six months probation and a 15 day jail sentence, with six months informal probation and restitution to the city for the damaged police car windows. Other charges were dismissed. Officers Bob Wien and Bill Kern arrested Reise for double parking and interfering with an officer. James Hunt defended Reise. Roger Hanlon spoke for the state.

Four Students Due Hearings Before Bonner County Board

Bonner County School District Board plans a 7 p.m. executive session for four students facing discipline hearings. Superintendent Dr. E Wayne Likens said three of the youths will be heard over narcotics arrests Friday, while the fourth faces separate discipline actions.

Idaho Senate Overrules Andrus Vetoes On Fund Allocations

Idaho Senate sustains Gov. Cecil Andrus vetoes of two appropriation measures, including a 206 000 allocation to the Supreme Court from the Alcohol Safety Action Program Fund and a corrections budget provision on federal funds. The votes follow prior vetoes, with party lines and minority objections voiced over program impact and fiscal controls.

Andrus Seeks Multi-State Probe of Idaho Prison

Governor Cecil D Andrus said he will seek help from Oregon and Washington to back an independent investigation of Idaho State Prison. The plan includes Idaho Attorney General Wayne Kidwell, prison officials, and two Idaho media members.

Idaho plans to sue to join the Columbia River Fishery Compact seeking a seat in decision making over salmon and steelhead runs. Governors of Idaho Oregon and Washington met with concerns that 1975 could be historically poor for migratory fish and Idaho hatcheries supply over half the summer runs.

Army Corps Says No Federal Funds Likely for Spokane River Study

The Army Corps of Engineers indicated federal money may not be available this year to extend pollution studies in the Spokane River Basin into Northern Idaho. If funded, Idaho work could start in July and begin by October, with the Idaho phase led by the Panhandle Health District covering Bonner, Boundary, Kootenai, Shoshone and Benewah counties.
