Idaho doctors faced looming loss of Argonaut malpractice coverage as the insurer revealed it would cancel policies on June 1. Land Planning Remains Sent After Committee Vote

The House Resources and Conservation Committee voted 10 to 9 to send Gov. Cecil Andrus land use planning package remanants to the floor for amendment. Rep. E V McHan substitution changes may for shalls in SB 1094, rendering the measure weaker and provoking possible gubernatorial retaliation. The Senate had earlier killed four bills after 50 days of deliberation.

Sandpoint Approves 3.65 Million 1975 City Budget

The Sandpoint City Council adopted a 1975 appropriation totaling 3,650,710 with a March 31 public hearing set. The largest item is 1.4 million for sewage treatment plant construction and engineering. Other major allocations cover police, city buildings, water system operations, streets, and sewer projects.

Three Sandpoint High Students Arrested in Marijuana Bust

City police conducted an undercover operation at Sandpoint High School leading to three 17 year old male students being charged with possession of marijuana. Officers observed them smoking in the parking lot during school hours. Two were arrested Friday, the third Monday. one suspect was caught inside the gym. All three ran from officers.

Three Salt Lake City men held in Idaho creamery robbery

Three Salt Lake City men Steven Nelson Eddie Jenkins and Fred Mowrey were held by Coeur d Alene authorities in connection with an armed creamery robbery and weekend burglaries involving stolen drugs. Police said charges had not yet been filed. A shotgun was used in the creamery robbery and investigators linked the case to an earlier attempted service station robbery and two dentist office drug thefts. One suspect is also tied to a Washington deputy sheriff shooting March 1 near Jane.

Idaho House Approves Highway Funding Compromise

The Idaho House passed a $2 million highway funding compromise bill and sent it to the Senate, amid a dispute over a Senate road funding measure. The session seeks to settle the highway funding for the 1976 fiscal year with priorities set by the Transportation Board.
