County Reports Primary Election Costs and Reimbursement

Bonner County Clerk Doris Kenney said she filed a $12 457 70 claim for Idaho reimbursement of costs from the May presidential preference primary. Total county cost reached 13 641 12, covering boards ballots registration supplies absentee needs postage and part time salaries with future state reimbursement depends on legislature funds and county participation.

Developers Sue Over Water System Membership Rights

Two Come Back Bay developers Brockway and Rainey sue in district court claiming they were denied water system membership for Come Back Bay Addition on Fry Creek. They built a 36-lot system and seek a writ to compel connection, asserting widespread water capability and unfair board actions. They request court orders granting all plat owners the right to use the water system upon fee payment and cost allocation.

Suspect Arrested in Sand Point Station Larceny Case

Robert Davis, 25, of 502 N Boyer, was arrested on a warrant for petite larceny related to a March 17 theft at John's Husky Station on North Fifth in Sand Point. About $20 was taken from the till while an attendant pumped gas. Davis posted a 50 bond and was released.

Mill Worker Injured In Colburn Conveyor Accident

An employee at the Colburn Mill received arm lacerations after his arm was caught in a conveyor that moves sawdust from the planet to the burner. The incident occurred about 11 p.m. and the worker was treated and released from Bonner General Hospital. Sheriff deputy Jerry Hatch provided the details.

Hearing Continued On County Suit

Bonner County pursues an injunction against Edward Jack Gage over a drive in diner built near U S 95 south of Sandpoint. The suit seeks demolition or repurposing of the building for safety and zoning reasons after Gage did not locate the diner at the required distance from the highway center line. The hearing date is moved to Wednesday June 30 at 9 30 a m in the Court House.

Priest River to Add Downtown Off-Street Parking Lot

City council considers converting Dick Sonntag’s West Main Street property between Kaniksu Lane and Karli Electric into an off-street parking lot. The site previously housed several businesses that were destroyed in the December 1973 fire.

PPL Rate Hearing Set in Idaho for Sandpoint

A public hearing by the Idaho Public Utilities Commission is scheduled for June 6 at 2 p.m. in the Bonner County Courthouse to consider a 1.4 mill per kWh rate increase requested by Pacific Power and Light Co. The rise would raise a 1000 kWh monthly residential bill by about $1.58 and generate $210,825 annually.

Idaho EPA Says Funds Can Solve State Water Problems
