Severe thunderstorms hit Southeast with tornado sightings
Severe storms swept the Southeast with high winds and hail. A tornado was sighted near Jackson Mississippi and another funnel cloud west of Jackson. Hail sizes reached up to baseball size in Virginia and golf ball size in Mississippi. Winds peaked at 60 mph in Blakestone Virginia and 55 mph in New Bern North Carolina. The rest of the nation saw sun and showers in western mountains and along the Gulf and South Atlantic coasts.
