Weekend area traffic injuries and crashes reported
Several area residents suffered injuries in weekend traffic incidents. Donald H. Robertson of Coeur d Alene was charged with causing an accident by walking in the eastbound lane of State Highway 200 in Laclede Saturday afternoon, forcing an oncoming car to swerve. Bert E. Best and his wife Shirley were injured when his truck left the road after a trailer broke loose near Laclede. Edward W. Johnson of Noxon was cited for inattentive driving after a Sunday crash near Kootenai injuring three passengers. Marie D. Lee of Bellevue collided with Vernon R. Mace of Bonners Ferry at U.S. 95. Lee was cited for left of center. One additional Sandpoint incident occurred Friday morning at Fifth and Pine.

Damaged cars involve local residents in two incidents
Two minor auto incidents reported in city notices. Kathy M. Ponack and Grace E. Avery were involved in separate damaged car events with $200 each. A second mishap at M and J Food City injured two employees’ vehicles, Gail C. Rickman backed into Gregory C. Deubel, causing $60 damage to Deubel’s car and $150 to the Rickman vehicle.

Brooks Seeks New Sponsor for Idaho Right-to-Work Bill

Priest River Wild River classification approved by Idaho board

Shea Arrested on Warrant for Burglary and Larceny

Palmer Pleads Innocent in Idaho Murder Case
Edward D. Palmer 21 and Milton W. Tarter 35 plead not guilty in First District Court to first degree murder in the May 19 Spokane stabbing of Opal Marie Almanza 58. District Judge Dar Cogswell set a September trial window. Palmer and Tarter, of Irrigan Oregon, were charged last month in the killing on property owned by Palmer’s parents on Samuels Road north of Sandpoint.

Three Arrested In Cocaine Bust In Pocatello Idaho
Three California men Richard Lakatos William Curtis and Erwin Sturtz were arrested in Pocatello Idaho after a three month investigation. About one pound of cocaine was seized with an estimated wholesale value of 24000 dollars. They are held in Bannock County Jail on 50000 dollars bond. The case and arrests were described as the state's largest cocaine raid to date.

Suspect sought in Newport burglary with firearms theft
Newport police hunt a white male about 35, 135 pounds with black hair for a burglary that occurred Sunday evening 7 to 10 o clock. The suspect allegedly said he was headed to Wyoming via Montana after taking three rifles a shotgun and a pickup.
