July 4 Kiddie Parade Theme
The Sandpoint Lions Club plans a Kiddies Parade with a theme Personalities and Situations in History emphasizing Patriotism. Ages determine categories per Lee Mahler chair. The parade forms at 9 a.m. at the former Old Farm School site on Third Avenue and starts at 9 30 a.m. Judges will award prizes before the parade.

Stripping Crews Plan Highway 95 Work This Thursday
Idaho highway crews will strip Highway 95 south of the long bridge this Thursday June 15 due to equipment breakdown delaying earlier plans. A 1 1/2 mile safety refuge will be added for left turns from Diamond W Motel to the bridge to ease congestion. Sandpoint and other segments from Coeur d Alene to Bonners Ferry will follow within two weeks. Lt Governor Jack Murphy to chair Idaho Committee for Nixon reelection.

Water levels on Lake Pend Oreille and the Pend Oreille River rise as officials at Albeni Falls report inflow at 142 000 cfs and outflow at 130 000 cfs.
