Lead Creek Derby Pays Out After Balloon Travel Guess
Bill Reagan of Coeur d'Alene won the 32nd Lead Creek Derby in Wallace Idaho by guessing the balloon’s travel time from Mullan to town. The ball required five hours and 29.8 seconds. Reagan received 500 in cash and 500 silver dollars for the closest guess, earning at least 1000 dollars.

Chancellor Willy Brandt and several German and Israeli officials were involved in a near fall at Massada after a helicopter was buffeted by winds and a dust storm. The craft rolled to a rock ledge, injuring three others and leaving Brandt unhurt as security crews struggled to halt the machine.
