Nor Del Hereford Ranch wins Bonner County cattlemen’s honor

Nor Del Hereford Ranch in Bonner County operates 120 acres of irrigated pastures with 43 acres for farmstead and keeps 200 head of registered cattle. Owned by Charles Sommerfeld and daughter Lana Linscott, the operation participates in many associations and exhibits in regional stock shows while sponsoring a 4-H trophy at the county fair. Other applicants included William A Hall and Douglas Yergens.

Lions Club Carnival Opens in Sandpoint This Week

The annual Lions Club carnival begins Thursday evening in Sandpoint with rides games cotton candy and concessions. It will run Thursday through Saturday on Main Street beside the Old Farm School, staged by Intermountain Shows owned by Bob McCabe. Proceeds fund eye care for underprivileged children.

Local Talent Billed For Show In Pend Oreille

Pend Oreille Productions, a teen and adult group, schedules a gala talent show for Friday June 11 at 7 30 p m in the Senior High auditorium. Proceeds fund local student jobs with MC Hans Landay donating services. Local nurse honored by Gov Andrus at Idaho event

Governor Cecil Andrus awarded two outstanding state employees for 1970 at the Idaho State Employees Association Presidents Banquet held Saturday June 5 at the Holiday Inn in Twin Falls. Winners are Mrs Michiko Kondo Priest River a public health nurse and Edwin Olsen Orofino a fiscal officer both from the department of Health.

Vernon Ruen elected chair of Clark Fork school board

Vernon Ruen of Clark Fork was chosen as chair of the Board of Trustees at the New Farm School in Sandpoint during the annual organizational meeting. Ruen, re-elected for a third term, succeeds Venus Verhei. Dr. William Morton was named vice chair and Wayne Hagadone earned another term as clerk treasurer under new superintendent Dr. E Wayne Likens beginning July 1.

Local Sailor Finishes Training in San Diego

Steven C. La Marche, Seaman Apprentice, completed basic recruit training in San Diego California and earned the sharpshooter medal. He now attends a 14 week course at USNTC San Diego covering basic radio fundamentals and procedures.

Mrs Kondo Michi known as Michi by friends leads maternal child health and home care services while serving as past president of Idaho Nurses Association District 10 and a public health nursing representative. Edwin Olsen, a 13 year health department veteran and fiscal officer, is Lewiston Elks member and paraplegic confined to a wheelchair for 17 years with leadership in Orofino clubs.

Kuney Bids Low On Hwy Project Here

Max J. Kuney of Spokane submitted the low bid of 2 141 091 75 for the Sandpoint North highway project in Boise. Murphy Bros of Spokane bid 2 774 266 50. The district engineer said bids are under advisement and the project aims to eliminate hazardous conditions at the U S 95 and State Highway 200 junction near Sand Creek. The plan includes roadway work, a 212 foot steel railroad underpass, and a 212 foot concrete bridge with completion expected in 240 days after award.
