Prediction of Fire Season in Idaho Remains Uncertain
UPI reports in August 1967 forest fire officials warned of a volatile season after a dry winter and a string of fires. The Sundance blaze near Priest Lake burned 2 000 acres despite initial containment, killing two US Forest Service workers. Foresters note 1967 as a critical year and stress uncertain severity for upcoming summers.
