Idaho Minimum Wage Raised to 1.60 Per Hour

Commissioner Bartlett R. Brown of Idaho Labor explains the July 1 1972 increase to the state minimum wage of 1.60 per hour. Most employees are covered under Idaho law, with exceptions. Tips cannot be used to meet the wage threshold and meals may be deducted if provided by the employer and consumed by the worker.

Beach residents and visitors are invited to the Beach Benefit Bar-B-Q on Sunday July 30. Proceeds fund city improvements and activities include horseshoe pitching bingo a tennis tournament water sports a dunking machine and boat races. Voters Urged To Register In Bonner County Aug Primary

Bonner County residents must be pre registered to vote in the August 8 primary. County Clerk Dori L. Kenney says new voters must sign up with precinct registrars within 10 days of the election or at the Courthouse within two days before, by 8 p.m. August 5. The office will be open all day August 5 for registrations and absentee voting. those who voted in the last general election and returned the re registration card are registered. No on site polling place registration on election day.

No Progress Reported In Local 3 10 Wage Dispute

Union members from Local 3 10 Woodworkers met with a federal mediator and Pack River Lumber representatives but made no progress on the wage contract. Pack River reportedly offered 20 cents with a seven and a half cent raise pending pay board approval, later changing to five and a half percent plus two percent. Contract language changes were not made. two job bids per year limit was dropped. The dispute involves TPM Spokane and related firms. Local 3 10 has been on strike since July 5 seeking a 32 cent hourly raise and pension changes.

School Board To Consider Bus Route Changes

The Board of Buses for Bonner County Idaho will review proposed bus route extensions at the regular meeting on August 8, 1972 at 8 p.m. in Skippoint. Interested parties should submit changes to Kenneth Holt, Transportation Director, before the meeting.
