Override Levy Defeated in Bonner County Vote
Less than ten percent of eligible voters cast ballots as Bonner County voters rejected the 200,000 deficit levy for School District 82. Of 1,694 votes, 1,053 opposed the levy and 627 supported it. one ballot was marked both yes and no. Superintendent Dr Wayne Likens cancelled Friday’s canvass meeting. BCEA President John Wylie had advocated the levy to fund higher teacher salaries.

Voters Urged to Register for Bonner County Primary
County Clerk Doris Kenney reminds Bonner County electors that to vote in the August 3 primary they must be U.S. citizens at least 18 and residents of the county. Those who have voted in any primary or general election since 1972 do not re register. Registration with precinct registrars runs until July 23 and then at the clerk’s courthouse. Deadline is 8 p.m. July 28. Absentee ballots are available. office hours include Saturday July 31 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Absentee voting ends 5 p.m. August 2.
