Pack River Bids $981000 For Sawlogs At Rapid Lightning Sale
The Pack River Company of Sandpoint Idaho led the December 29 timber sale by oral bid for the Rapid Lightning tract about 2 1/2 miles northeast of Colburn Idaho in the Rapid Lightning drainage. The bid raised the appraised value from 706433.40 to 981986.60 for 22280 MBF sawlogs and 830 MBF pulplogs with white pine Douglas fir and hemlock grand fir. Other bidders were Diamond International and Georgia Pacific. Award issued from the Regional Forester office Missoula Montana.

Ex Sandpointer Walter McCormack dies in California
Funeral services were held in San Diego for Walter McCormack 59 a former Sandpoint businessman who died last Friday morning of a heart attack. He operated the Shell service station at First and Lake in the 1930s and moved to San Diego in 1938 where he later served as a city inspector.
