Regents Reject UI Fee Challenge and Order Collection
The Board of Regents dismissed a Dec 4 1975 advisory ruling by the UI Administrative Hearing Board that $30 of $200 per semester was illegal tuition. Regents maintain only they set student fees and call for an investigation into higher education fee structures. They authorize leases and land purchases for Caldwell Agricultural Experiment Station and a veterinary clinical facility.

Ardenvoir Mill Cleanup Begun in Chelan County
A four man crew began cleaning debris at the Pack River Ardenvoir Lumber Mill in Chelan County after a recent fire. Officials have not announced rebuilding plans. Les Thomas said the crew would grow this week and removal would take a couple of weeks.

George H Parker 74 dies in Sandpoint Idaho
George Harrison Parker died at home in Sandpoint on Friday January 9 at age 74. He was born October 21 1901 in Yar mouth Ontario and married Violet E Taylor in Sandpoint Idaho on April 5 1928. He came from London Ontario in 1925 worked as a restaurant clerk and later farmed in Selle area. He is survived by his wife Violet a nephew William De Parker and siblings Minnie Stockton Strathroy Ontario Helen Dupuis Windsor Ontario and Lewis Victoria Ontario. Funeral at Moon Chapel Tuesday January 13 at 2 00 p.m. officiated by Chuck Wigton with interment Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Coeur d Alene Nursery Raises 14 Million Trees
MISSOULA Montana UPI The Coeur d Alene Idaho tree nursery produced 14 million seedlings in fiscal year 1975 for reforestation in the Northern Region National Forests The US Forest Service said 4000 pounds of tree seeds were extracted for the project covering 45000 acres The production included 250000 containerized seedlings John R Milodragovich director of the region timber management said the tree improvement program will provide foresters with superior trees that grow faster and are more resistant to insects and diseases Facilities are being expanded to store 15 million seedlings and up to 36 tons of seed A total of 4303 pounds of seed was extracted from cones supplied from all parts of the northern region Silvicultural exams covered 302590 acres and stand improvement was completed on 44000 acres More than 500000 acres have been planted and 48000 acres seeded in National Forests of Montana and northern Idaho.

Lawmakers Picket Over Idaho Land Use Bills
A youth group demonstrated outside the Idaho Statehouse denouncing Gov. Cecil D Andrus proposed land use planning bills. More than a dozen pickets occupied walkways as lawmakers arrived for the second week of the session. Three bills are before the Senate Local Government and Taxation Committee to supplement the basic land use planning measure adopted last session.

Engineer alleges EPA blackmail over sewer grant

Lewiston Fire Victim Identified in Hotel Idaho Fire
The body of an 86 year old Lewiston man named Mike Mardell was found among the ruins of the Hotel Idaho after a Friday blaze. Fire Chief Vernon Lane reported the body was located Saturday on the second floor hallway and identified by a wallet. Coroner Don Appleford ruled the cause of death as smoke inhalation.
