Assault Charge Nets Sentence in Idaho Case

Linda Faye Harbison 26 of Ponderay was sentenced to two years in the Idaho State Penitentiary after pleading guilty to assault to commit murder for shooting her husband twice with a .22 pistol in their bathroom following a disturbance. The court retains jurisdiction for 120 days.

Forecast of heavy snow in Sandpoint region says experts

Soil Conservation Service expert Vern Bromgard and Forest Service forester John Skinner report Schweitzer Snow Course shows 30 percent above ten year average snow water content. At 6100 feet, snow depth is 93 inches vs last year's 107. at 4800 feet near the lodge 61 inches vs 84 last year with a 57 inch average. Bromgard notes January 1 readings have historically stayed above average throughout the year. If this pattern holds, significantly more snow appears likely this winter.

Snow Removal Okay Could Be Better

Snow removal in Sandpoint is adequate but constrained by equipment and funding. Superintendent Jack Leckner says five dump trucks are insufficient for ongoing plowing while residential areas stay passable thanks to citizen cooperation. rental costs at 18 dollars per hour per truck are unaffordable this time of year, as funds come from a highway district rather than the city.

Andrus presses education budget for 1976 requests

Gov. Cecil D. Andrus aims to have the State Board of Education back his education budget needs in 1976. Dr. J P Munson said the board will support the governor’s final request and rework figures once the exact budget is released.
