Controversial 183 Acre Re zoning Hearing Continued

Public hearing on re zoning the 183 acre tract north of here continued to March 24 as a special subcommittee of Thad Hunt Junior Nacarrato Roy Weise seeks a compromise solution. Property owners including Dr Theo Alms Phil Bradeich Wynn West and Wallace Miller oppose the shift to commercial industrial zoning. The Union Pacific Railroad plan to sell a five acre parcel sparked the dispute with the Chamber of Commerce backing development.

Five Drug Hearings End With Dismissals In Sandpoint

Six local defendants defended by James Hunt faced Judge Craig Rosener in Coeur d'Alene on drug charges from a December mass arrest in Sandpoint. Dan Silvers saw his charges dismissed. Pat Keatie had counts bound over, other counts dismissed or taken under advisement. Remaining defendants had matters continued or bound over as bonds remained in place.

Paroled after 14 months in Idaho state prison

Al Williams of Sandpoint a short order cook was released on parole fourteen months and fourteen days after his arrest for second degree murder later reduced to involuntary manslaughter in the early morning slaying of his wife at their trailer home north of town. He served thirteen months as a model inmate and was paroled after a pre parole hearing and parole board review amid local backing. He plans to lead a quiet life and has secured a job. Details of the death remain unrevealed as the parolee was the sole witness.

Notice to Snowmobilers Registered in County

State law requires all snowmobilers to be registered with four dollars of the five dollar fee going to the County snowmobile fund. Bonner County Sheriff's officers will be checking snowmobiles for compliance with the registration requirement.
