District 82 adopts seven semester graduation program

District 82 high schools may petition the State Board to graduate early under a seven semester plan, replacing the eight semester standard. The policy requires a parent student principal conference and early curriculum adjustments, with American Government taken after four semesters if approved by the principal.

A House bill would allocate 50 000 in Sandpoint airport funds for Bonners Ferry Coeur d Alene and Lewiston. The proposal would distribute 22 076 for Bonners Ferry 9 235 for Coeur d Alene and 18 895 for Lewiston citing unforeseen contingencies in 1969 71 appropriations.

Public Listening Session Set For Forest Service tonight

The United States Forest Service hosts the fourth Listening Session at 7 30 p m at the Community Hall to hear public input on the Multiple Use Plan Review Draft and future forest management. Ralph Kizer Kaniksu Forest Supervisor outlines six rules including five minute comment limits and mandatory self identification to ensure equal opportunity to speak. Previous sessions were held at Priest River Bonners Ferry and Thompson Falls Montana.

Snowmobilers Oppose Bills Banning Firearms on Snowmobiles

Snowmobilers across Idaho voiced strong opposition to two House bills aimed at banning firearms on snowmobiles during hunting seasons and restricting snowmobile use in designated wintering areas. Supporters argued the measures protect big game from harassment, while opponents said existing laws suffice and the bills discriminate against snowmobiles.

Hot Line to Boise features legislature hookup at Elks Club

The Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce announces an annual program titled Hot Line to Boise set for Tuesday February 15 at the Elks Club. Ken Pratt says a telephone direct line to the Idaho Legislature will be amplified for a public Q and A session with all three representatives.

School Trustee Election Date Set For May

The Venus Verhei seat from Sagle is up for election in May with May 8 designated as the election date. A February 29 special meeting and regular meetings in February March and April were scheduled to handle the board's heavy workload. Verhei has not indicated if he will seek re election.
