Sea Scouts Present Bridge of Honor for Ship 100

Sea Scout Ship 100 will present a Bridge of Honor for all troops in the Selkirk district at 7 30 pm Tuesday February 8 at Community Hall. The annual awards meeting falls on Scout ing birthday with Eagle Scout Doug Camster of Ship 100 as the highlight. Camster is a Sandpoint High School senior and the Eagle rank is the highest in scouting. Skipper Vern Eskridge said Ship 100 is well prepared for an engaging program for the public.

Idaho Girl Wins First Ski Medal

Susan Corrock of Ketchum Idaho earned the United States first Winter Olympic medal in Sapporo Japan, taking bronze in the women’s downhill. She finished one second behind winner Marie-Therese Nadig of Switzerland with Anne-Marie Proell of Austria second. Governor Cecil D Andrus sent a congratulatory telegram from Idaho noting her achievement and inviting her to the statehouse.

Resignation of Idaho Higher Education Director

Dr. Donald Kline, head of the Office of Higher Education, submitted a two sentence resignation for personal and family reasons. Board president Joe McCollum said the move not a surprise and praised Kline as a very qualified leader, with the resignation to be reviewed by the State Board of Education in Boise or at an upcoming meeting.

One Accident Marred Quiet Weekend in Bonner County

A vehicle driven by Lamoyne Ross, 46, left SH 200 about 10 miles east of here, rolled over, and she was cited for inattentive driving. Mrs. Ross suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from Bonner General Hospital the same evening. The accident was investigated by Cpl. Harvey Biffle.
