Obituary for John Macks Maker 67 of Spokane Washington
John Macks Maker, 67, died in Spokane on Tuesday. Born August 1908 in Mullan Idaho he moved to Sandpoint area in 1915 and lived at Oden. He worked for Humbird Lumber Co as cook and sawyer and at Colburn Pack River Mill. He ran a dairy for 10 years then raised hay after selling the herd. He bought stock in the Co op gas and supply Co in 1934 and served on its board 25 years including as chairman since 1933. He served on the Co op credit union board and credit committee and was long a member and former Master of the Oden Grange. Survived by mother Emilia Macks of Sandpoint and sister Mrs Mary Thompson of Portland Oregon. Funeral services 1:00 AM Monday at Moon Chapel with Rev Jim Scott officiating.

South Korea is recovering rare Chinese antiques from a sunken vessel near Mokpo, about 200 miles southwest of Seoul. Frogmen have retrieved 4 910 porcelain pieces many celadon wares from the Sung and Yuan dynasties. Experts say the site may hold the hull of an ancient Chinese trading ship and more artifacts as searches continue.
