Franco Commutes Death Sentences for Basque Alists

Idaho toll climbs to 320 in traffic fatalities
The Idaho traffic fatality toll rose to 320 on Tuesday with Kenneth A. Heiner, 20, of Nampa, identified as the latest victim in a two car crash. Heiner rode as a passenger in a car driven by Charles Norris, 17, of Caldwell, which ran a stop sign at Karber and Middletom Roads and was struck by a vehicle driven by Melvin L. Russell, 28, of Boise.

Two Morrison-Knudsen pilots die in Boise jet crash
In Boise the bodies of Emmett E. Schille and Stephen W. Sandmeyer were found in a DeHavilland 125 jet wreckage after an instrument landing at Boise Airport. The crash near Lucky Peak will be investigated by the Civil Aeronautics Board. Both pilots had more than 25 years flying experience.

Alitalia Caravelle Crash At Turin Airport
A Turin Rome Alitalia Caravelle taxiing for takeoff collided with a snowplow on Caselle Airport runway. Five tons of fuel spilled and ignited, killing the snowplow driver. All 33 passengers and five crew members escaped injury.

A Fenley Co soft coal mine near Hyden Kentucky trapped 38 men after an underground explosion. State police report confirms the incident and crews head to the scene. The Fenley mine is three miles from Hyden in southeastern Kentucky, about 150 miles east of Cave City.
