Two Hurt In Car Train Collision At Riley Creek Crossing
William Michaelsen of Laclede and his wife Evelyn were seriously injured when their car was struck by a Burlington Northern train at the Riley Creek Park Road crossing in Laclede. The crossing has two tracks and the BN train, about 50 mph, was heading west toward Priest River. The incident occurred at 9 35 a m Thursday. the engineer was HF Wellhauser. Conditions on injuries were not released.

Robbery Foiled at Santa Catalina Convent in Pamplona
Four thieves surprised and tied up the nightwatchman of Santa Catalina Convent but a cleaner's warning and the nuns' appearance scared them away. The thieves attempted to force the main door of the nunnery, according to Cifra.

Car Damages in SH 200 Readout Near Sandpoint
An accident Wednesday evening caused about 500 dollars damage to a car driven by 68 year old Frank Murphy of Hope. He sustained no injuries. Sheriff reports say Murphy was blinded by bright lights from an oncoming vehicle and veered onto a soft shoulder into a ditch after which the car hit a post on SH 200 one and a half miles north of Sandpoint.
