Fuel Shortage Hits Local Lumber Industry Hard
Three Idaho lumber firms report fuel shortages curbing production though not yet a crisis. Cocolalla Lumber warns 2900 gallons on hand will run out by December 26 with a 2900 gallon second shipment due later in the month. Office of Energy says 900 gallons will be provided on notice at a cost of 3.5 cents more per gallon. Other firms such as Louisiana-Pacific Arrow Tie Mills Pac River Lumber report shifts cut and potential layoffs if cutbacks continue. Boise dispatch notes a separate prison incident where inmates caused disturbances after drinking a homemade brew.
