Kellogg Idaho based Bunker Hill Company delays tall smokestack construction and other pollution controls citing delays from a new EPA plan and uncertainties. President James H Halley said a unified statewide plan is needed and that ambient air standards require emission reductions beyond health related measures.
Twin Falls Idaho Fifth District Judge James Cunningham reminded employers that Idaho law prohibits penalizing workers for jury duty. He noted firms use point systems to reward attendance and discipline for absences, stating coercion to avoid jury service violates the law and could place the employer in criminal contempt.
Schweitzer Ski Resort plans a Saturday reopening using snow brought in by truck. John Pucci and four ski patrolmen trim brush and groom the slopes with hay and tree limbs to cover patches. Snow depth ranges from a foot at the top to eight inches near the resort, with limited grooming due to rocky terrain.
A 32 year old Driggs Idaho man, William Basson, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon after police say he pointed a gun at Steven Rasor following a two vehicle crash on Cedar Street near Fifth. Basson was jailed on a driving while intoxicated charge and bond was set at 9000 dollars.
Bonner County Sheriff records four burglaries in Area Four and Sagle. At Bottle Bas Rd and Mendas Mel Bankoff cabin and Rey thson home were broken into with unknown losses. Allison residence unreported missing items. An antique clock vanished from Banhot cabin. A post office letter drop was broken into again. a check inside was not taken.
Variable clouds and cooler conditions with a chance of snow flurries. Highs expected near the 30s with light winds. Local towns may see brief snow showers as a cold front passes through. Temperatures drop tonight into the 20s.
Fore Chef Wade Brown announces the Pine Street Park ice rink is open to the public at no charge. An inch of ice exists after flooding, with night skating enabled by a flood light. Skaters are asked to help clear light snow and may build personal bonfires with their own wood as a warming option.
