Sandpoint Debates One Way Streets and New Signals Plan

Sandpoint City Council discussed scrapping a one way street system for seven downtown traffic signals, returning Pine Street to two way traffic, and adding signals at Fifth and Church Fifth and Oak Fifth and Fir Fourth and Cedar and Third and Cedar. The panel approved sending a letter to the highway department and planned a early 1978 meeting.

Bonner County School Board Talks To Continue Meeting

Toys For Tots Drive Reports More Donations

The Sandpoint Lions Club 1977 Toys for Tots drive surpassed the $1,000 mark with 14 donations announced by fund drive chairman Roger Hanlon. The drive had raised $1,168 toward a $5,000 goal, with cash gifts accepted at the Daily Bee office or Lions Club box 414. Donations included $121 from four anonymous donors and gifts from Kemp's Texaco, Bonner Blizzard Buzzards, and others.

Hearing Set On WWP Rates in Idaho

The Idaho Public Utilities Commission schedules hearings in Coeur d'Alene on Washington Water Power Co.’s request for a 75 million electric rate hike. The Jan 17 session at North Shore Convention Center will run through the week if needed, to hear staff and intervenor testimony and evidence.

Sailing Club Lease Denied by North Idaho College Trustees

North Idaho College trustees will not renew the Coeur d Alene Sailing Club lease for dock space on Lake Coeur d Alene north shore. The club’s lease expired Oct 1 and it is in a legal dispute with Idaho over ownership of land between old and new high water marks. The club has refused about ten years to pay a $530 annual rental for the disputed strip.
