Merchants Offer Free Movie for Sandpoint Shoppers

Sandpoint merchants present a free film program for children while parents shop. The Daring Young Men in Their Jaunty Jalopies opens at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Saturday with cartoons after. Extra evening hours are set December 10 17 and 2023 across downtown stores until 8 p.m.

State Pharmacy Board to Question Osco Over Ads

Boise Idaho The State Board of Pharmacy orders the Osco drug store managers in southern Idaho to appear next Monday for a fact finding hearing at 2 p m. Executive secretary C E Barnett says inquiries cover advertising of prescription drugs and prices under federal and Idaho laws including manufacturers names and contraceptive ads. He cites price marking rules and seeks compliance status without alleging violations.

Candidates Accuse Democrats of War Politics over India Pakistan Crisis

Senate Republican leader Hugh Scott charged Democratic presidential hopefuls with turning the India Pakistan war into a political issue. He said there was unity in neutral policy after a State Department briefing, while Kennedy criticized Nixon’s crisis handling in a separate Senate speech.

Former Mayor Fosseen appointed to Expo-74 committee

Former Spokane mayor Neal R. Fosseen was named to the Expo-74 Ecological Exposition committee as vice chairman for foreign relations. Expo managing director King F. Cole announced Fosseen would depart for a five day trip to Germany to acquaint German leadership with the exposition plan.

State asks 29 communities to halt water polluting dumps

Hope and Clark Fork in Bonner County among twenty nine communities urged to stop dumping solid waste into streams lakes and watercourses to prevent pollution. A June 1 1972 deadline was set with possible extensions for action and cleanup plans.

State Agency Raps Eco Lawsuits

The Idaho State Reclamation Association denounces environmental class action suits as an interference with separation of powers and sovereign immunity. It warns such actions could push courts into environmental regulation where legislatures or Congress declined to do so. The group also opposes minimum flows in the Hells Canyon Reach and urges House hearings on the Salmon Falls water project near Twin Falls.

Challis Idaho F W Gill Bergeson a Republican senatorial hopeful told the Challis Chamber of Commerce that wise use of land water and minerals will create Idaho jobs and aid millions of Americans. He argued the ecology economy relationship must be resolved in the nation s interest and warned against allowing the environmental tail to wag the national economy dog.

A L Alford Named to Idaho Education Board

Governor Cecil Andrus appointed A L Alford of Lewiston to the Idaho board of education and the university regents, replacing John Peacock Kellogg who recently resigned. Alford, publisher of the Lewiston Morning Tribune, is a 1960 University of Oregon graduate and Lewiston High School alum with wife Nancy and three children.

Ski Report From Schweitzer Basin Idaho

United Press International reports Schweitzer Basin near Sandpoint Idaho at 7:30 a m temperature of 10 degrees with light snow. Two inches of new snow on a two foot base makes skiing very good. Two chair lifts operate daily and by week end three chairlifts and a t bar will be in operation. The area remains open daily.
