Three die as car hit by Burlington Northern train near Sandpoint
A Sunday crash 15 miles north of Sandpoint at Elmira leaves Loradelle Widerstrom 27 and her two children Adrea 2 and Larry 10 dead. Tony Halvson 9 and Shelly Widertzum 5 remain in hospital with Leonard Goughnour 28 and Henry Yan Yumza 5 critically injured. Train engineer Raymond Knapton reports speed about 55 mph. car failed to stop at a stop sign.

Injured Driver and Passenger In HooDoo Mountain Truck Crash
The Bonner County Sheriff's Department reports Alvin Robert Geinger, 45, of Pilot Rock Oregon, and Donna Gienger 42 sustained injuries when his tractor trailer overturned on HooDoo Mountain Road at Edgemere intersection eight miles southwest of Priest River. Injuries believed not serious.
