Preregistration Opens At UNC For NIC Fall Classes

North Idaho College announces preregistration on the Coeur d Alene Lakeside Campus from August 2 to 19 for new and returning students who have completed admissions. About 400 to 500 students will enroll before August 25, with 700 to 900 expected to sign up that day in the NIC gym from 9 to 12 and 1 to 4. Late registration runs August 29 to September 12 with a nominal fee.

Chamber Merchants Meet Thursday on Board and Chair

Merchants Committee will meet Thursday August 18 1977 at noon at the Pastime Cafe to elect a new Chamber Board director replacing John Porter whose term ends October 1 and to elect a new Merchants Committee Chairman. Porter also has a copy of the overhauling vendors license proposal replacing the old Ways and Means plan and eliminating the B and O Tax focusing on transient licensing. Bring a fellow merchant to the meeting.

Paperboy Shot After Argument In Ann Arbor

A 15-year-old boy allegedly argued with his ex girlfriend then took a rifle from his father and fired on two passersby near an old water pumping station in a park. Dennis Donahue 14 was critically wounded in the chest while delivering papers and Charles Haseltine 6 of Redlands Calif was shot in the arm while aiding Donahue.

Drug Ring Smashed In Rhode Island Waterfront Estate

North Kingston authorities halted an international drug smuggling ring at a rented waterfront estate. Police believe most narcotics were already on the street. the ring used a Jamaica flagged 99 ton fishing boat that drifted into Narragansett Bay. The estate owner Bayard King, a retired US Foreign Service officer, rented the house to a suspect and was away in Wyoming.
