Idaho State Police Captain Jack McGinnis announces retirement set for September 1 after 25 years with the ISP. A Boise native, he began in Boise, then moved to Coeur d Alene two weeks later and has served here since. He was promoted to captain a year ago after eight years as lieutenant since 1953.
Sandpoint Man Dies In Wreck
A Sandpoint man Leonard Thurlow 58 died Saturday when his pickup collided head on with a logging truck on a narrow blind curve of Burnt Creek Cabin Road near U S 95 outside Coeur d Alene. Two other men Harland Gotham 32 and Stanford Hunt 42 were injured and treated at Bonner General Hospital. The body was taken to Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d Alene. authorities cited the dangerous curve as the cause.

Wrencoe Youth Shot in Hand
A Wrencoe youth, 17 year old Mike Kluver, was wounded Sunday afternoon when his .22 pistol misfired during repair. He was treated at Bonner General Hospital and released. the bullet crushed his index finger but did not break the bone. He is a student at Sandpoint Senior High School.
