Special Power Council Meets to Plan Power Expansion
The Special Power Committee of the Public Power Council met in Sand Point for two days to discuss planning and installation of generating equipment and timing of its availability. The council represents 103 consumer owned utilities in Oregon Washington Idaho Wyoming and Western Montana with Northern Lights of Sand Point among members. Dyer said future power needs require load forecasts and large thermal plants as the Federal Columbia River System will fall short after 1976. The group maintains four standing committees including a technical studies unit and has launched a siting program for nuclear plants under an executive committee led by Bill Nordeen.
