Pack River Company offers wage and benefit package in strike dispute

River Company officials released a statement detailing an offer said to raise average wages by 135 to 140 monthly by 1975, plus health and welfare increases to 40 cents per hour and a new pension plan. The package includes nine holidays and vacation improvements, while workers have been on strike since July 6, with about 700 dollars lost per employee in the first month.

Church Votes Against Gun Control Bill

Idaho Senator Frank Church joined many colleagues in defeating a bill to impose controls on Saturday night specials and other cheap handguns. Church has long opposed federal gun control, saying the legislation would spur broader controls and total federal preemption of the field.
