Voters Decide in Idaho Primary Races Tomorrow

Boise voters head to polls for the Idaho primary including governor and two congressional seats. Incumbent Gov. Don Samuelson faces Dick Smith while McClure and Hansen run unopposed in the U.S. House races. Other races include state offices with many incumbents unopposed and several Dem candidates contesting. Polls open noon to 8 p.m. local time across the state.

Wommack Elected to National Rural Electric Board

Carl Wommack of Bonners Ferry was elected to the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association National Board of Directors to represent Idaho electric cooperatives. Wommack also serves on the boards of the Idaho Cooperative Utilities Association and the Montana Associated Utilities and was named Grassman of the Year for North Idaho in 1967. Idaho law requires headlight beams to be lowered at night and when following another vehicle unless overtaking.

Art Festival Set At Coeur d Alene

Painters from Bear Harbor Maine to Seattle enter the juried show of the Second Annual Outdoor Arts and Crafts Festival in Coeur d Alene August 8 and 9 at Fifth and Front Streets. Potters weavers painters jewelry makers and sculptors attend. The clothesline sale offers original paintings and prints at ten dollars or less. Children enter junior art and paint the mural. Admission is free. Festival hours are August 8 2 PM to 9 PM and August 9 10:50 AM to 7 PM.

Sandpoint Police Nab Suspect in Boise With Stolen Guns

Police learned yesterday that a man taken into custody in Boise carried four firearms stolen in a Pend Oreille Sports Shop burglary. David Charles Shropshire, arrested Friday, matched serials via a NCIC teletype. investigators linked the guns to the February 8, 1970 break in at Said Point store. Sandpoint officials said they had not yet linked the suspect to other crimes.
