Civil Air Patrol Officer Saves Life After Chain Saw Wounds

A Civil Air Patrol officer credited with first aid saved Bud Lang Jr. after a chain saw accident at Freeze Out Springs on High Drive. Lang suffered eight lacerations to his arm, a tourniquet stopped bleeding, and he underwent nearly three hours of surgery at Bonner General Hospital before recovering at home with his mother reporting progress.

The 7:30 p.m. meeting closed after 10 p.m. with Mary Ruth Mann inviting any interested committee members to return to the U. of S. Campus in September for further discussion. The discussion highlighted concern that youths were being shut out and stressed the need for their future help.

Fort Ord soldiers found nude on hill after bar outing

Three Fort Ord soldiers Gary Kelsey 20 James Gaf 19 and Melvin Steinrath 26 were found naked on a Monterey hill after leaving a bar and trying to hitchhike to the base. They were stripped and robbed of 106 dollars by four men in a car. A Boston note complains at Dante's Restaurant about a large tip.
