Opening Lake Pend Oreille fishing season greets big catches
The 1973 season opens with a Kamloop of 28 lb 8 oz caught by Bud Martin and a Dolly Varden of 19 lb 9 oz by Chinook Montman Del Brinkman on Lake Pend Oreille. The K and K festivities run through May 5 with prizes at the Eagles Lodge Sandpoint and the Red Hat Dance.

Knife Assault Injures Youth in Sandpoint Fight
Police investigate a Friday night knife assault at the Community Hall dance. Grant Vess, 18, sustained six to eight inch long neck and thigh lacerations. A 17 year old was charged with assault with a deadly weapon after pulling a box knife. Vess treated at Bonner General Hospital.

New Chamber Hours Announced
The Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce announces new office hours. Beginning Tuesday the office opens 8 a.m. Monday through Friday and closes at 5 p.m. From June 15 the office will also be open on Saturdays during the summer.
