Nuclear plant shutdown could tighten power supply
Portland based BPA official says a three month shutdown of the Hanford Nuclear Plant for refueling and maintenance may force further industrial power cuts. Hanford currently supplies about 840000 kilowatts and is to be idle until mid to late July as runoff and hydro power prospects remain below average. BPA plans to seek added power from Glen Canyon, BC Hydro, Byrd Montana plant, and Dworshak while water storage limits generation for next winter.
