Bayview resort owners balk at selling lake boat licenses

Hudson Bay Resort owner Jim MacDonald claims Kootenai County has not spent sufficient boat license funds on Lake Pend Oreille. He and other Bayview resort owners refuse to vend licenses, directing boaters to Bonner County’s Lakeview, risking diverted revenue and possible county countermeasures.

Rules Proposed For Disposal Systems

The Department of Health and Welfare proposes amendments to its Manual of Operating Policies and Procedures. It would make it unlawful to construct alter or extend individual sewage systems without a department permit. The department would require homeowners to apply to the director for permits and describe a complete installation plan including property details and existing facilities. Installers would need an annual registration permit and must pass an examination for initial issuance.

Khmer Rouge rebel forces capture Phnom Penh ending years of conflict that claimed about a quarter million lives. Idaho ASAP conducts fourth annual roadside survey across Idaho

The Idaho Alcohol Safety Action Project runs weekend evening roadside checks to assess drinking and driving. Since 1972, about three quarters test negative BAC and about seven percent reach or exceed .05 BAC. No citations are issued if drivers accept a ride home or a sober driver. Surveys span Boise, Twin Falls, Burley in April with May in Kellogg Wallace Orofino Coeur d Alene and Lewiston and June in Pocatello and Idaho Falls.
