A year ago this week December 18 to 21 featured the Blackhawks beating Patoka 49 to 26. An FFA Father and Son banquet was hosted at Sandoval High School. Joseph Garcia returned home after seven months in Chicago hospital. The Sandoval Community High held its annual Christmas program, and Sandoval Grade School defeated Odin 26 to 10.

Rosemary Kindel Breaks Arm in Thanksgiving Fall
Rosemary Kindel ten year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Melvin Kindel of Powell Wyoming formerly of Sandoval broke her arm in a fall while playing Thanksgiving Day. The injury, a break in the right elbow, led to her being taken to a hospital in Billings Montana for treatment. The Kindels moved from Sandoval about two months ago.

Christmas Homecoming For Polio Sufferer Brenda Warden
Eighteen month old Brenda Faye Warden returns home Monday December 28 to spend Christmas week with parents Clarence and a hospital stay ends December 30 at Alton Memorial. She contracted polio July 12 and has received care in Springfield and Peoria before transfer to Alton. While bed confined her condition has improved though left foot movement remains limited and a brace will be applied soon.

Fire department hosts shooting match for new Sandoval fire truck

Mrs Grace McConnel 62 of Sandoval died at her home early Saturday December 14 services set for 2 pm Monday at Cox Martin Funeral Home with Rev Kahl officiating burial in Sandoval cemetery. She was born November 27 1884 to Henry and Mary Ward and moved to Sandoval forty years ago. Survived by son William McConnel daughter Edna Mae Bright brothers George Ward Andy Ward and half brother Richard Lewis.

Eighteen Month Old Chokes on Raw Cabbage
Larry Callender an eighteen month old of Sandoval was rushed to St. Louis hospital after a piece of raw cabbage lodged in his throat. A bystander helped dislodge the morsel and he was later returned home with only a sore throat reported.
