Sandoval Zinc plant resumes work after brief idle period
The Sandoval Zinc Company restarts operations after idle since June 15 due to a $1.00 daily pay cut. An agreement with the Smelters Workers Union and district organizer E. P. Pheiss sets a $1.50 daily wage decrease. A small crew began repairs Wednesday and 82 workers are expected back soon under plant superintendent Frank Perez.

In Bond County Illinois Rebecca and Bunyon Starnes aged 79 and 70 lost their home to a blaze. Neighbors quickly raised funds bought materials and built a four room house with an enclosed porch plus furnished it.
