Band concert launches Armadillo Band drive
A band concert and Band Club membership drive will be held at 3 p.m. Monday on the north side. The Armadillo Band will perform about 15 minutes under director Edwin M. Sheparddy. Club members will canvass the business district to solicit new members and dues will support the band. The drive is the first of three annual efforts to build a bigger Armadillo Band, says president Slim Cobern.

VEW To Vote On Auxiliary Friday in San Saba

High School Boys Collect Old Toys in San Saba
From 9 to 11 A.M. Monday vocational agriculture students will canvass the San Saba residential district gathering discarded toys. Mrs M L Jones Dies At Red Bluff At 76
Mrs M L Jones, 76, longtime Red Bluff resident, died November 12. Funeral services were held November 14 at Locker Community Church, with burial in Mesquite Cemetery. Surviving are eight children including Mrs Lucy Pryor of Rusk and Mrs Sallie Goodlow of Wingate, plus Mrs Alice Hail, Nila Jones, Jay Jones, and Mrs Marie Lane and Mrs Opal Lane.

Most San Saba businesses will close all day Thursday for Thanksgiving. Union Thanksgiving Services led by Baptist, Presbyterian, and Methodist churches will be held Wednesday at 7:30 pm at the First Baptist Church as a prelude to the holiday for people of all denominations.

San Saba County Farm Bureau re elected Henry Ratliff as president at the annual meeting and barbecue in the school lunch room. Howard Perry was named vice president and Murrell Terry secretary treasurer. Directors included Ben Lewis Archie Rutherford and others. Raymond Winkle LLano County secretary spoke on the need for Farm Bureau. About sixty persons attended the supper prepared by Frank Edwards and pie and cake contributions from members wives.

Lions and Rotary clubs heard a sportman from Lubbock describe his safari in British East Africa. W T McMillan showed color and black and white film totaling over 12 000 feet, recounting dangers and thrills of the chase. The presentation, titled African Adventure, was screened at the high school gym under 4H and Home Demonstration Club auspices.

Will Strickland brother of Lon K Strickland of San Saba died Saturday afternoon at his Colorado Springs home after years long illness. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in Colorado Springs. Strickland had visited here annually with his brother and other relatives.
