Mrs J C Creamer and daughter Virginia Ann visited relatives at the Whitman home northeast of the city after a week in Eastland. A 1917 Navy initiates a sailor into the Domain of Neptunus Rex with a mock royal certificate found among old items.

R S Crain shows a budding Burkett pecan orchard on China Creek road with twenty acres of young trees set at 17 per acre and 340 total along the road, plus about 100 native trees on nearby river land and 35 acres of seedlings. He plans Garner variety budding too. Mayfred Rothmann, a 19 year old 4 H club member, will ship a 1 200 pound Hereford steer to the Chicago International Livestock Show, after Freight to Merkel, for the trip beginning Nov 23. J E Jones of Eldorado plans the largest Palomino sale in Texas on Nov 22 featuring 46 head. Canning & Wimberly has started tallying stock, with Jack Canning shipping 54 cows to the Canning ranch and the Burnham farm.
Over the past year the Thorntons sold $600 in produce including cream and turkeys. Their 20 acre feed crop patch supports 7 Jersey cows and a group of heifers. They grow 12 acres of peaches, apples, plums, and apricots plus blackberries from which Mrs. Thornton picked 85 gallons. She canned 300 garden containers. They added a new kitchen, rock smoke-house, cream separator area, milk cans, and a concrete cellar. They bought the place three years ago and aim to become one of the county’s best small farms.
