Western Party Slated Here Saturday Night
The San Saba County Western Party comes to the Cafetorium Saturday night November 23 with barbecue supper guessing contests and a county-wide talent show. Proceeds go to benefit county livestock and poultry shows, with 19 donated animals and a savings bond prize for each contest. Various local leaders organize the program and tickets are sold by FFA and 4-H members across the county.

Presbyterians to welcome guest preacher Sunday
John T. Wehmeyer, second year student at the Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, will be guest pastor at First Presbyterian Church this Sunday November 24. A 1962 Austin College graduate from Sherman he led youth work as a summer assistant at Cleburne church and has been president of the Presbytery of the Southwest. Married to Carel Sue Irwin of Port Arthur his Manhattan Church membership is noted.

Oklahoma plane crash kills Kelly Owen and three others
Prominent rancher Kelly Owen 68 and three passengers died when a Beech A-55 crashed nine miles northwest of Leedey Oklahoma on Tuesday afternoon. Owen and his brother Bill co owned Owen Bros Land and Livestock with offices in Ranchmen's Tower Hotel. Kirby, partner in a Goldthwaite ranching and warehouse business, was en route for real estate in Mobridge with plans to stop in Dodge City. No witnesses reported seeing the crash. debris and currency were scattered over the scene.

Mrs C Brown Narrowly Escapes Gas Fumes At Home
Mrs Connie Brown of Richland Springs was found unconscious in bed Tuesday morning November 12 after a butane gas odor filled her home. A friend unable to wake her called for help and Justice of the Peace George Murray forced entry. She regained consciousness at the hospital later the same day and was released Sunday to stay with her daughter Mrs Henry Lewis.

Hunters Check 450 Deer At Locker Plant
Hunters brought 450 deer to the San Saba Locker Plant by 5 pm Tuesday 19 during the first four hunting days. The count includes 91 does though several hunters keep deer at camp or outside the county. The largest was a 17 point, 110 pound buck by W C Shirley of Odessa from Yates Ranch. Jack Harkey noted deer were fat and in good condition despite a difficult fall.

R Hernandez Dies From Pecasn Tree Fall In Big Wells
Rosendo Hernandez 66 of Big Wells died Friday November 18 from injuries after falling from a pecan tree while thrashing pecans on Leon ard Ranth. Born September 15 1897 at Pearsall he married Bessie Galen in 1912. Survived by wife four sons Joan Crystal City Lewis Carlos Chicago Jesse Austin daughter Vera Rodriguez Austin and several grandchildren. Funeral arrangements by Howell-Doran Funeral Home.
