The San Saba News notes its 16th year of publication and reports county court jurors named. Other items include a marriage license, Pecan Grove school opening, a 16 year old death in Brownwood, and Travis Locklear taking race horses to the San Angelo fair.
In Texas during these November days schools replace air raid sirens with education about safety. Thousands of Texas students learn the democratic way while traffic danger rises. Last year over a thousand school and college age victims were killed or seriously injured by cars, prompting School Safety Week from Oct 30 to Nov 4. Governor O Daniel proclaims the week to boost traffic safety education in schools and colleges.

Will Hicks fell from a pecan tree but stayed unhurt. G A Walters Jr became Hotel San Saba clerk. E E Rissen hosted annual pecan picnic for schoolchildren. Former Gov James E Ferguson threatens to run for state governor. State Fair visitors included J P McCaskill Beatrice Turner and Rafe Thornton.
Five years back dated November 1 1934 reports E A Limroth and W H Kimbrough with children at John Tarleton. Visitors include Jimmie Ketchum of Los Angeles and M M Ballard family in San Saba. Local races featured 1200 yard line drills by Jack Crockett and Clifton Smith on George Casbeer farm. W T Moore hosted Misses Roberts Marrs and Burkett for dinner. Mrs W Moats and Mrs S T Taylor visited San Saba. Armadillos suffered a 2 0 0 loss to Brady and planned a trip to Coleman to fish for the Bluecats.
Letter from Congressman D G South Washington dated October 25 1959 discusses a census related statement being mailed to newspapers in the district. It notes general belief the Senate will adopt a neutrality resolution within days and the House may vote next week with a closer margin.
A former San Saba resident now in a veterans hospital writes to the San Saba News. He recalls enlisting in 1917, thanks the paper, praises the Jaycees and Armadillos, and hopes to visit around Christmas. He plans to meet Mr. Berry and friends and expresses pride in his hometown.

A Hallowe en party was held for the school children Friday night by the teacher. The little fellows enjoyed the occasion to the fullest and were full of glee. Will Jones and wife with grandson Wesley Brown motored to Goldthwaite last Thursday.
