Advertise and Boom Business Says Speaker
Thomas K. Kelly, editor of Kelly's Magazine, urged Kiwanis members in Austin to advertise honestly and train clerks to boost sales. He said 4500 merchants go out of business daily without proper advertising, and Texas mails orders from Sears Roebuck and Montgomery Ward show growth if local papers carry truthful, frequent ads. He warned against old hype methods and urged a 1–2 percent annual advertising spend to see year end gains.
