The 1955 San Saba County Old Settlers Association reunion is set for Friday June 24 at the old Fair Park grounds north of San Saba. John Lee Walker president announces the 10th annual gathering with a beef barbecue and dessert by pie or cake. The event coincides with the San Saba World Championship Rodeo two day, with free rodeo seating for 71 plus seniors in badges.

Rabies Suspected Dog Cleared After Observation
A dog that bit eight year old Teddy Burcham was removed from the rabies suspect list after ten days of observation by Sheriff Brantley Barker. The animal showed no rabies symptoms during the period, concluding infection unlikely and no anti rabies treatment needed for prior exposure.

Native of Cuba to Hold Revival

Cherokee Special Election Set For June 24
A special election will be held in the Cherokee Common School District on June 24 to decide converting to an independent school district. County Judge Warden Terry ordered the election after a 65-signature petition. Election officials are Arch Young as judge and Morris Randolph as clerk. The county blood program announces a July 7 bloodmobile visit in San Saba. The late-year visit was moved from a prior date due to rodeo conflicts, with the drive credited to the current year and a call for physically able residents to donate. Pool Draws 150 First Day Water Carnival Planned
The Saba pool operates on a six day schedule with hours 2 PM to 8 PM and two hour earlier closings on Sundays and Wednesdays. About 160 swimmers attended opening day despite poor weather as Mrs. Chrane and Mr. Chrane run the facility. Plans include a water carnival and a children’s swimming school last year’s free program under Red Cross and City Council sponsorship. Marion Lyse Hall returns as lifeguard. The bathing beauty contest is not planned this year, possibly biannual.
