Bend Fair and Barbecue a Grand Success in Texas
One day Bend Fair drew about 5 000 attendees and 1 000 autos with a morning band concert and speeches by J N Alexander EB B House and Joe Burkett amid rain. Agricultural displays won prizes across many categories while a governor hopeful speech by James Ferguson drew applause before being cut short. Rides, rodeo and ball were rained out, but the event was praised as a top one day fair with plans for a longer future.

Mrs. Lewis Dowty Dies After Illness at Home
After a lingering illness Mrs. Lewis Dowty died at the family home on China Creek last Thursday. The body was buried in China cemetery. W. T. Lewis, a longtime Richland Creek farmer, also passed away last Thursday in the bounty seat.
