Mitchell Rites Held Saturday at Cherokee Church
Funeral services for Mrs. Leonard Y. Mitchell 54 of Cherokee were held at 2 p.m. Saturday February 23 at the Cherokee Church of Christ with Elder EB McKelvain officiating. Born April 20 1902 in Hamilton she lived in the county from a young age and married Leonard Y. Mitchell December 10 1921 in Llano County. She died February 21 after about a year of ill health. Survived by her husband Leonard Y. Mitchell a daughter Mrs. Ernest Lee Oliver Jr of Victoria five sisters Mrs Closs Daugherty Mrs M F Smith Mrs Mildred Sawyer Mrs Jake Lucas and Miss Gloria Whitt and three Victoria grandchildren. Burial was in Hanna Cemetery Cherokee.

County 4-H Teams Lose Streak At San Antonio Showdown
San Saba boys and girls place second after Taylor County 4-H wins the Neatness Award in San Antonio. The San Saba club had claimed the title for the past two years in Houston and San Antonio and once at Waco, according to County Agent Sterling Lindsey.

Funeral service for Josh Levy held in Killeen
Mr and Mrs Paul Golding with Mr and Mrs Dwight McDaniel of Brady attended the funeral for Josh Levy in Killeen on Sunday. Levy was the father of Mrs Guy Daryl McDaniel of Killeen. Dwight and Guy Daryl McDaniel, sons of Mr and Mrs Denzil McDaniel of near Algerita in San Saba County, participated in the service.

Central Texas Angora Goat Show and Sale Planned
The first annual Central Texas Registered Angora Goat Show and Sale will be in Goldthwaite on Saturday Aug 21 announced by Dr I Graves secretary of the Central Texas Registered Angora Goat Breeders Association. The sale limits 100 billies and 25 does with top 25 consigned to feature and 75 lots drawn for sale. Committees were formed to organize the event and show.
